Sexual harassment continues to remain a real workplace problem. Media stories and studies clarify the high toll that this misconduct takes on targeted employees, coworkers, and the overall work environment. A workplace that allows–and even encourages–such conduct cannot promote respect for all employees to obtain their best performance. The United States Congress, state legislatures, and local lawmakers all have enacted laws that require most employers to train all employees on sexual harassment prevention and response. All employees need to understand their role in promoting a healthy workplace, preventing sexual harassment, and effectively responding to such misconduct when it occurs.
